Overview
Subcharge is a subscription, bill, and reminder app with an optional Smart Detection feature that can find recurring payments for you. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Subcharge is provided by the Subcharge app developer. For privacy questions, contact us at subcharge@aierlabs.com.
Information you add to the app
Subcharge lets you enter information such as:
- Subscription and bill details: names, prices, billing cycles, renewal and due dates, trial dates, categories, notes, and reminder preferences
- Payment card details you choose to save in the vault, including card name, cardholder name, card number, expiration date, CVV, bank name, card network, billing date, due date, and notes
- App preferences such as theme, currency, onboarding status, and display name
Smart Detection
Smart Detection is optional and turned off by default. When you enable it, Subcharge can scan certain content on your device to suggest subscriptions, bills, EMIs, and other recurring payments for you to review.
Sources you can turn on:
- SMS messages (Android only): with your explicit permission, Subcharge reads financial and transactional SMS to detect recurring payments. It is designed to look only at financial messages and to ignore one-time passwords (OTPs), personal conversations, and promotional or marketing messages.
- Email receipts: content you paste into the app from a payment or renewal email.
- Statement and email file imports: CSV statements or .eml email files whose contents you paste or import.
How Smart Detection handles your data:
- All scanning, parsing, and matching happens on your device using built-in rules. There is no artificial intelligence service, no cloud processing, no email-account connection, and no third-party parsing service.
- Your SMS, email, and statement content is never uploaded, sold, or shared.
- Subcharge stores only the detected result on your device — for example merchant name, amount, billing frequency, due date, suggested category, and a short reason it was detected. It does not store full copies of your raw messages.
- Smart Detection may remember items or merchants you ignore so it does not surface them again. This learning stays on your device.
- Nothing is added to your tracked subscriptions or bills unless you review it and choose to add it.
How information is stored
Subcharge is designed as a local-first app.
- Subscription, bill, reminder, and detection records are stored locally on your device.
- Card vault data is stored locally using secure device storage.
- Preferences and Smart Detection settings are stored locally on your device.
- We do not operate a Subcharge account server that receives your subscriptions, cards, messages, or detection data.
- We do not sell your personal information.
If you delete the app, your local app data may be deleted from the device depending on your operating system and backup settings.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Subcharge requests notification permission and schedules renewal or trial reminders on your device. If Smart Detection is enabled, Subcharge may also show a single summary notification when new recurring payments are detected, so you can review them. Notification content can include a subscription or merchant name and a date. Subcharge does not request or use push notification tokens for a Subcharge server.
You can disable notifications in your device settings.
Device authentication
Subcharge may use your device passcode or biometric authentication to reveal vault details. Biometric authentication is handled by your device operating system. Subcharge does not receive or store your fingerprint, face, or biometric template.
Network requests and third-party services
Smart Detection itself runs on your device and does not send your messages, emails, or statements over the network. Other app features may connect to third-party services:
- Frankfurter API, used to fetch currency exchange rates. Currency codes may be sent as part of the exchange-rate request.
- Hunter logo service, used to load public brand logos for subscription names. Logo requests may reveal the requested logo domain to that service.
- Google Play and Android system services, used for app distribution, operating-system features, notifications, and app security.
These third parties may process technical information such as IP address, device or network metadata, and request details according to their own policies.
Payment information
Subcharge is not a payment processor and does not charge your saved cards. Card details entered in the vault are for your own reference. We do not intentionally transmit your saved card number or CVV to a Subcharge server.
Children
Subcharge is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your locally stored subscription, bill, vault, or Smart Detection data with advertisers or data brokers. Your SMS, email, and statement content is never shared.
Your data may still be handled by:
- Your device operating system and device backup settings
- Third-party services described above when network-based features are used
- Legal authorities if required by applicable law
Security
We use device-provided storage and authentication features where available, including secure storage for vault records. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so you should use a secure device passcode and keep your device updated.
Your choices
You can:
- Add, edit, archive, or delete subscription, bill, and card records in the app
- Turn Smart Detection on or off, enable or disable individual sources, run the included review, and clear detected data
- Revoke SMS or notification permission at any time in your device settings
- Change app preferences such as theme and currency
- Delete the app to remove local app data from the device, subject to your operating system and backup settings
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Subcharge changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and make the updated policy available.
